I was born in Fitzrovia, but I couldn’t claim to be a cockney as Bow Bells couldn’t ring at the time due to war damage.

Ah, I wonder if they were ringing in 1952? Perhaps not.

The bells were destroyed in the Blitz on 10th May 1941. Recast in 1956, the bells were eventually installed to resume ringing in 1961.
