  1. Very much a necessity to keep staff, I think. Before I retired while working for the Met Police, the job I was doing in Central London paid over £11,000 a year more (basic) than the same job in Norfolk. That included agreed London Weighting, as well as a higher rate of pay because of staff retention requirements. In addition, we received enhanced payments for weekends and double time plus a day in lieu for Bank Holidays worked They didn’t get any of that in the County forces.
