The new Taxis and Private Hire Vehicles (Disabled Persons) Act 2022, which came into force on 28 June, is the most significant change to taxi accessibility legislation since the Equality Act was introduced 12 years ago. Let’s hope TfL support the disabled if they’re refused to be taken by PH vehicles and cabs.

I used to take wheelchair users when I was cabbing in the 70s. Only if the chair could be folded up and stowed on the roof rack though. I can remember struggling to help disabled people into the car to take them to hospital appointments, it was far from ideal to say the least.

Yes, far better than a saloon car. But you can’t find one in Bexley or Sidcup most days. 🙂
