I walk to Oxford Street and climb on the number 8. It’s freezing and it starts to rain and it’s the ugliest bus I’ve ever seen, rattling down the ugliest streets, in the ugliest city, in the ugliest country, in the ugliest of all possible worlds.

Thewlis is from Blackpool. I’ve been to Blackpool, and that’s really ugly! And it’s tacky too. At least London is not tacky.
Best wishes, Pete.
I’ve never been to Blackpool, nor have any intention of ever going there.

I had to go for work, in the early 1970s. Once was enough.
I live in and love London but, let’s be honest, alongside much beauty there is also A LOT of tacky.
Elephant and Castle isn’t brilliant!
